Nunhead is one of London’s unique 'urban villages', a great shopping experience that only independent retailing can provide as well as being a vibrant shopping area serving the local community.
The name is first recorded in 1680 and is believed to be taken from a local inn named The Nun's Head.

Southwark Council confirmed it would keep the housing repairs line free of charge.
The decision came following a successful petition from Southwark Group of Tenant Organisations (SGTO) during a Cabinet Meeting which took place on Tuesday 19 September.
Southwark Council’s revitalisation of Peckham Rye Park is well underway; its brand new play area will have a strong focus on water play for younger children and it is the first of its kind in Southwark.
Over the last few months, hundreds of brand new council homes on nine sites around Southwark have either been granted planning permission, or are going through the planning process, as part of the council’s unrivalled programme to build 11,000 new council homes in the borough.
