Ivy House Community Pub
Want to help make history in your neighbourhood? The Ivy House Pub in Nunhead SE15 is the first building in the country to be bought by a community using the Localism Act 2011. This fantastic grade II listed pub is now London’s first co-operative pub, community hub and performance space. The community bought the freehold of the pub with a mixture of loan finance from the Architectural Heritage Fund and grant finance from the Social Investment Business Group. Now they need your help to finish the job and get the pub trading again. The Ivy House has launched a community share issue to enable local residents and businesses and people from further afield who care about pubs to buy shares in the Ivy House and invest in the character of the local area and this great building. These funds are required to get the building ready to trade again and, if the share issue goes really well, reinstate the second front bar of the building to create an even better venue. This is a groundbreaking project that is inspiring other community groups to save their pubs and is a chance to directly influence the character of your neighbourhood!
