1 June - 31 August 2013
Artist Lara Hailey will be running a participatory art project to produce Nunhead Festival’s bunting.
Each piece of bunting will be unique, embroidered with personal thoughts and memories about Nunhead, celebrating everything local, including people, places, events and businesses. To begin with she will be working with local schools and community groups, over the summer she will be running free drop in workshops in pubs and cafes around the area. Once all the bunting has been embroidered she will sew the whole lot together to represent the strength and coherence of the local community.
Throughout June/July Lara will be working with students from the following local schools, Ivydale, Harris Girls Academy and St Thomas the Apostle. She will also be working with a youth and elderly group at the Samaritans.
Throughout the summer holiday she will be running free drop in workshops at various venues, including the Elephant & Nun festival and Nunhead Corner. Information about other venues will follow shortly. Please do contact Lara directly if you want her to run a workshop at a particular event or if you want a bunting pack to complete independently.
